Introducing New IoT Integrations

September 01, 2016

As IoT services become more prominent in our everyday lives, Vinli wants to ensure a seamless connection between your car and other smart devices. We are excited to announce two new integrations to the Vinli Platform: Amazon Echo and IFTTT.

Now, you can pair your Amazon Echo with your car to find out how you’re driving, how much fuel is left, and lots more! You can also create IFTTT Recipes to open up Waze whenever your trip starts or send a “Yo” to a friend when you’re a mile away from their home. There’s a whole new world of automation for you to discover.

The best part about these integrations? Setup is quick and simple. Find out how below!

Amazon Echo

Amazon Echo gives you a voice activated assistant named Alexa who has the answers to all your questions. Now by pairing with Vinli, you can ask her about your car — stay up to date on its whereabouts, health and lots more with a simple “Hey, Alexa”.

You can ask for:

How to set up:

  1. Log into your Amazon Alexa account.
  2. Open the menu in the top left corner and locate “Skills”.
  3. Search “Vinli” in the search bar.
  4. Click “Enable Skill” to link Vinli and your Alexa.

IFTTT

IFTTT allows you to automate tasks between two different services. When the Action fits IFTTT’s “If, then…” equation, the Action will trigger. With the Vinli integration, you can find and create your own Recipes, such as sending out a text to let your loved ones know you’ve arrived at a set destination, or starting Waze when you start a trip.

Choose from optional triggers including:

To set up:

  1. Make sure you have an IFTTT account already set up.
  2. Locate and connect to the Vinli Channel in IFTTT.
  3. Link your Vinli account to your IFTTT account. You will need to log into your My Vinli account.
  4. View Recipes Vinli has already created or make your own!

Nest and SmartThings

We are not stopping there! Vinli has also integrated with Nest and SmartThings, and you can control it all with a single interface — the Home Connect app. Set a boundary and your smart home will turn on/off whenever your vehicle crosses it. To find out more about Home Connect, click here.
